As we go into this next week we will be celebrating Constitution Day.  Constitution Day isn’t one of the bigger holidays, we would much rather celebrate the Fourth of July, which is also important, but sometimes I think we forget about the Constitution.

The Constitution is a document that is so important to the history of our country.  It was our stand…our chance to become something bigger and greater, to progress.  Sometimes times are tough, but I think back to our Founding Fathers and know that during their time it was tough for them too. As we start this week, I vow to help remind my students of the freedoms we have thanks to the Constitution and to help them remember why this country is so great.

As we study this we are going to create a Celebrate Freedom Cube to learn about different aspects of our freedom.

As students work on the cube they have opportunities to reflect on their freedoms through thinking maps, writing activities and fact finding.

Here are some images of the activities we are completing…

You can purchase this cube in my Teachers Pay Teachers store here. The packet includes my tips on books to use and how to teach the each page.  As well as links to YouTube videos and websites I’ve found helpful in teaching Celebrate Freedom Week.

Hope everyone has a great week reflecting on the freedoms we are so blessed to have in this country!
